+++++Trails Are Closed (2-25-10)+++++ - Tony @ 9:14 pm EDT

The Barnstormers trail system is now closed. After the rain today the trail system has become mud with a little snow on top. With all this wet snow there is tree branches down, also with the spring like conditions there are water holes in low places along the trail. We were suppose to have received snow today, but it has rained instead so with these conditions the club has closed the trails. Another reminder there have been ATVs going through the ice on some of our lakes and ponds, so take extra care when snowmobiling on any any lakes, ponds and the canal.

Trail Report 1/15/2010 - Tony @ 11:10 pm EDT

With this warm weather and the lack of snow, it doesn't look good for our trails to remain open. Hartford and Granville have closed off their trails earlier this week. The Kingsbury Barnstormer's have kept the trails open longer, but it doesn't look good, let's get a snow dance going and hope that the storm predicted for Sunday night produces much needed snow. For now the trails are pretty much beat up with alot of bare spots. It's a good time, this weekend, to load up the sleds and head North where there's a lot of snow & give our trails a break.

SLOW DOWN & STAY ON TRAIL - Tony @ 10:50 pm EDT

It has been brought to the Club's attention that sledders are speeding on Poverty Road, Paul Collins Construction truck barn and Wayside Bar & Grill. There has been a couple of near misses between sleds and trucks. Believe me if a snowmobile & a heavy truck collide, the truck will win everytime. Seriously stay on the shoulder in that area & drive slowly.

We have also got a complaint from the Mattison Farm that snowmobilers are not staying on the trail. Let us remind all snowmobilers using the trail systems, IF YOU DON'T STAY ON THE TRAIL, THE TRAIL WILL BE CLOSED, PERMANENTLY TO ALL.

Barnstormer Trail Information - Tony @ 12:56 pm EDT

Hi fellow Barnstormers, we were out doing some sledding yesterday and found the trails pretty good. But, without good snow coverage we did encounter some boney spots especially on plowed & corn fields. If any our members encounter any areas that may be a danger to riding safely please e-mail myself with details & I'll pass the info on to the appropriate people, to get it corrected. My e-mail is; tonyc1943@yahoo.com If you are out, please drive safe, stay on the trail & I'll see you on the trail.

Trail Report 1/6/10 - Tony @ 10:13 pm EDT

This trail report was submitted by Bill West, one of our groomer operators, Thanks Bill

We were able to groom about half of our section of Corr.4B,all of sec. 41,and most of our section of sec.46 as of 1/5/10.We DO NOT groom plowed fields until there is sufficient snow cover, and they remain pretty rough with only 4" of snow cover.The smooth fields groomed up fairly well,however there are many sections that contain deep ruts,rocks,and stumps.We really need more snow.
As a added note, when you snowmobilers are out riding give the groomers a right of way & a high sign would also be nice, as a thank you jesture, for what they are doing to make your riding more enjoyable.

Trails & Trail Conditions 1/5/10 - Tony @ 11:21 pm EDT

It was reported by the groomer personal that the trails maintained by the Kingsbury Barnstormers Snowmobile Club have been groomed and are as good as they can be in with what snow coverage the groomers have to work with. The big storm that we were suppose to have gotten during the New Year's weekend didn't happen & what did fall was blown away with the high winds. Also the club had to take out the old "Devil's Kitchen" bridge, it was unsafe and beyond repair. The bridge hasn't been used for the past couple of years, because of a trail change, it was only used by local traffic. It was also reported that the new trail to Ginny Ray's Resturant on Dix Ave. is still closed from the back of the old Dix's Drive-in to the resturant because of construction at the old drive-in. If the trail is opened in the near future, I'll get that information posted here just as soon as I receive it. Again drive safe while out on the trail system, the riding isn't bad, but the plowed fields still have ruts and high spots that can cause problems, use extreme caution when crossing all open fields. See you on the trail.

Trails Are Open, Ride With Caution 1/3/2010 - Tony @ 10:53 pm EDT

We were out riding on Saturday and found the trails, with the exceptions of insufficient snow coverage on plowed corn fields and farm tractor ruts, riding wasn't that bad. Also we encountered a deep mud hole in the woods between Ideal Farm and the Wayside Bar & Grill (S46A). so be careful going through those woods. The "Club" has been out grooming, to help smooth out some of the problem spots and with the late snow on Sunday, hopefully the trail condition will improve.

Trails & Hunting - Tony @ 10:09 am EDT

If the Weatherman is right this year, we can expect a early snow. Being that the Northern Zone, as well as the Southern Zone, of New York, big game hunting season goes till early December, with a extended big game season till the middle of December. The snowmobile clubs of NY keep all trails closed to snowmobling till the hunting season is over on or around December 15, 2009. Thank you for your consideration We all share the woodlands in this great state, so please respect your fellow outdoor's person.
